Vancouver-based leftist quarterly that parodies and critiques “mental pollution” ad campaigns to get its own social justice, health, and environmental messages across. Adbusters‘ “subvertising” has included “American Excess: Leave Home Without It,” “Absolut Nonsense,” and “Buy Nothing Day”; the organization’s activist shell, the Media Foundation, helps activists place the ad parodies in local markets.
