Selecting the Right Evening Gown for you

The first step in makeup application is to start with a clean face.  Just like an artist starts with a clean canvas before he paints, we are going make sure we start with a clean face before we can begin our cosmetic lessons.

The first step to facial cleansing is to determine your skin type.  I am going to break it down into 4 simple groups.  For all skin types below, I suggest visiting your dermatologist to help determine your skin type and to help properly treat your skin.

1. Oily
2. Oily/Normal
3. Normal
4. Dry

Oily: You will know if you fall into this category if you are always complaining about your face shining.  It is important to keep your skin extra clean keep all excess oil out.  It is also import to always use oil free cosmetics.

Oily/Normal: You can determine if you have oily/normal skin if you tend to produce shine in your t-zone.  Your t-zone is located in the shape of a T across your forehead and down your nose.  The rest of your face tends to be normal.  If you fall into this category, I suggest staying with oil-free cosmetics.

Normal: Normal skin type doesn’t seem to require much care.  If you aren’t big on cleansing your face, but you are lucky enough not to produce oil or pimples, without dry patches, your skin type is normal.

Dry: Dry skin needs the exact care than oily.  If you have dry, flaky patches on your face, you fall into this category.  It is a must that you properly moisturize before applying cosmetics to avoid the makeup caking up on your face.

Now that you can determine your skin type, let’s talk about a daily skin care regimen.

First and foremost, you must always cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser.  I suggest using Cetaphil (from your local drugstore) or a light chamomile cleanser.  For oily skin, you may use a small amount of astringent to remove any excess oil from the face.

Once your canvas is clean, you can begin your makeup application with a light foundation.  I suggest the oil-free pigmented moisturizer by Arpeggio International, in which you may purchase on pageantdiva.com.  The pigmented moisturizer is a dermatologist tested formula oil free moisturizer with an SPF 25.  They have added a slight pigment to even your skin tone and remove redness of the skin.  The pigmented moisturizer is available in Light, Medium and Dark and is the first official step in our makeup application process.

Ok, I have left you with a lot of homework!  First, you must first determine you skin type.  Second, you must make a daily regimen to properly take care of your skin.  Remember to always remove your makeup before bed and you should be washing your face twice daily.  Finally, find the proper foundation to start your makeup application.  With Arpeggio pigmented moisturizer, you will have an easy time picking your color with three simple color categories of light, medium and dark.  No more hassles of trying to find your perfect shade!

Well, I am giving you one month to get started on cleansing your canvas.  Check back next month for the second step in makeup application: Foundation Coverage.

Thanks again for visiting pageantdiva.com.  Have a beautiful day!
